  33. New in the Shockwave Graphics Player:
  34. *Player enables font embedding in compressed documents.
  35. *Player adds FreeHand 7 compatibility.

  37. Limitations:
  38. *Both embedded and non-embedded FreeHand documents will 
  39. not print from within Netscape or Internet Explorer--a blank 
  40. space appears wherever a document is embedded.
  41. *In 256 color mode, documents with embedded fonts draw 
  42. more slowly than those without embedded fonts.
  43. *Viewing files at magnifications less than 100% may cause
  44. text to appear at large point sizes, creating screen trash.
  45. This happens when system fonts are substituted for the file's 
  46. original fonts.
  47. *The 16-bit plug-in is limited to magnifications ranging from 
  48. 12% to 6400%.
  49. *The 16-bit plug-in will not draw text correctly in documents 
  50. with embedded fonts if the text is not black text drawn on a 
  51. white background.

  55. The Security Dialog Box
  56. =======================

  58. When you launch an Authorware piece from the network, the
  59. Security dialog box appears.  The dialog box also appears when one
  60. Authorware piece jumps to another or when an Authorware piece
  61. uses GotoNetPage to go to another Authorware file that's on the
  62. net.
  63.  
  64. The Security dialog box lets you designate the network location
  65. where an Authorware file is located as trusted or not. If you
  66. choose not to trust the location, the file will open but it may
  67. not work properly.
  68.  
  69. The Authorware Plug-In displays the Security dialog box every
  70. time it opens an Authorware file unless you tell it not to.  You
  71. can have the Plug-In by pass the dialog box when you're going to
  72. trusted locations by unchecking the checkbox next to Show
  73. Security Dialog Box When Opening Trusted Sites.  For more
  74. information, see the next section.  To force the Plug-In to open
  75. the Security Dialog box regardless of this setting, hold down the
  76. Control key when the Plug-In is opening an Authorware file.

  78. Security Options Dialog Box
  79. ===========================

  81. Use the Security Options dialog box to change security settings,
  82. edit locations, and choose when you want the Security dialog box
  83. to appear.  To open the Security Options dialog box, click the
  84. Security Options button in the Security dialog box.
  85.  
  86. The Security Options dialog box lets you save a list of locations
  87. or URLs that you trust.  That allows you both to keep the browser
  88. in non-trusting mode for general net surfing, and at the same time
  89. to go to trusted locations and run complex files that download
  90. XCMDs and Xtras without having to turn trusting mode on each
  91. time.

  93. The settings in the Security Options dialog box work this way:
  94.  
  95. o Trust Only Listed Locations
  96.  
  97.     Runs Authorware pieces from selected locations in trusting
  98.     mode. Click the Add Location or Modify Location buttons to
  99.     make changes to the list.
  100.  
  101. o Trust All Locations
  102.  
  103.     Runs Authorware pieces from all locations in trusting mode.
  104.  
  105. o Show Security Dialog Box When Opening Trusted Locations
  106.  
  107.     Determines whether or not the Security dialog box appears
  108.     when a you're about to run a file from a location you trust.
  109.     If the checkbox is checked, the Security dialog box appears;
  110.     if it isn't checked, the Security dialog box doesn't appear.
  111.     Even if you leave the checkbox unchecked, you can hold down
  112.     the Control key when the Plug-In is opening an Authorware file
  113.     to override the setting and display the Security dialog box.

  115. The buttons in the Security Options dialog box work like this:

  117. o Add Location
  118.  
  119.     Adds the current location to the list of trusted locations.
  120.     Add Location won't add a location to the list if it's already
  121.     there. You can edit a location so that the portion of a web
  122.     site that you're trusting is broader than a single, specific
  123.     URL. For example, if you want to trust all the Authorware
  124.     pieces on the Macromedia web site, you'd edit the current
  125.     location to http://www.macromedia.com and add that location to
  126.     the list.

  128. o Delete Location
  129.  
  130.     Deletes the selected entry.
  131.  
  132. o Modify Location
  133.  
  134.     Copies the current location to the text edit field at the
  135.     bottom of the dialog box, where you can make changes to it.
  136.     Modify Location won't allow you to change a location to a
  137.     location that's already on the list.

  139. o Save Settings
  140.  
  141.     Saves the settings and the current list of trusted locations
  142.     to the prefs.ini file.
  143.  
  144. o Cancel
  145.  
  146.     Cancels any changes you've made to the dialog box settings
  147.     during the current session.

  149. Error Messages
  150.  
  151. If you've chosen not to trust a location and the Authorware
  152. file there attempts to perform an operation that might affect the
  153. security of your system, the Plug-In displays an error message.
